If so then there are some basic things you need to make sure you and your family have covered for your storm and tornado shelter or what some of us Texas people would say is our Texas tornado safe room. So maybe you might just be ready for whatever comes your way.

Make sure you have a place you call your shelter or a Texas tornado safe room.

A place that you and your family will go when a storm or tornado is among you. Because you will need to take shelter fast and you need to have a plan and place already in motion for you and your family.

Make sure your family knows exactly where and how to get there with no problems to make sure they are safe. Don’t just think they know, walk them through it and make sure the kids know what to do. So you can all meet in that place and be safe from it all.

Radio or Weather Radio

Keep a battery power radio on hand so you and your family are kept updated on the storm projection. Always listen to the weather alert no one knows how long you might have to wait out a storm. So make sure you have a radio in place and ready to go for you and your family.

Flashlights

            If the power is knocked out and make sure you and your family have plenty of flashlights so you are not left in the dark.

BackUp Power Batteries

            It’s important you have a stash of batteries and you have and it would be safe to purchase portable chargers for your cell phones also just in case you are out of power for some time.

Food and Water

Keep a stash of water and food for your family so you are ready for anything that might come your way. Make sure you have plenty and make sure you have enough for the whole family in case you are out of power or having to stay in the shelter longer than you know. Bottles of water are great and for shelter.

Warm Clothing and Blankets

Make sure that you and your family have warm clothing and blankets. You can also get an air mattress with an air pump just in case you need it.

First Aid Kit

This is very important in case for some reason you have any cuts or minor injuries that can occur before getting in a shelter or might happen during the storm.

Items That Mean Something To Your Family

This is anything that you might have in your home that you might need in an emergency as of medical supplies or medicine if you have kids make sure you have things that will keep them entertained coloring books, video games, cards, and broad games. If you have a baby, make you have supplies like baby wipes, diapers, other things you might need to keep on hand for you and your family.

It is important for you and your family to be stocked up and safely ready for anything that might come your way. Be ready for the worst and don’t let there be no WHAT IF because with that Texas weather you never know what you are getting one day to the next day. So get a checklist out and ready to make sure you and your family are ready and safe and take all possible preparedness measures that might come your way. Be Safe!
