India is preparing with all its might for the second test match in the Paytm England tour of India. The match is scheduled from the 13^th of February to 17^th of February in the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. While India is reeling from its defeat in the first Test and fully motivated to retaliate, England is in preparations of its own with some changes in the team.

India lost its firepower against England as the team’s spinner Ravindra Jadeja got injured and was ruled out of the test matches. Shahbaz Nadeem who was roped in as the replacement for the spinner failed to steal the spotlight in the first test. As Test Cricket in India (second innings to be accurate) is known as a spinner’s idea of heaven, it is imperative that the team plans to rope in more spinners into the playing XI.

Axar Patel who had been benched during the first test due to his knee injury was selected to play in the second test match. Spinners Rahul Chahar and Shabaz Nadeem have been benched for the second test, thereby giving a chance to Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav to shine in the second test. Together, the trio might be able to make the England team sweat in the second test.

While England is enjoying its first victory against India, the team had decided to make some changes too. Captain Joe Root, the double century scoring hero of the first test informed the media in a virtual press conference that Dom Bess, James Anderson, Jofra Archer, and Jos Buttler will miss out the second test. Replacing them will be Ben Foakes, Stuart Broad, Chris Woakes, and Moeen Ali. He also informed that Jonny Bairstow will most likely return to the team for the last two tests.

England’s 227 runs victory in the initial test is a massive blow to the Indian team. However, this might serve as an added motivation making the team work extra hard to defeat the opposition. England is on a victory high, but the team knows that it can never relax with a singular victory especially when a team like India stands in opposition. While prediction is impossible in this scenario, watching the match is not.
