There are so many great places to camp around Perth and the surrounding areas – you just need to know where to look. Not everyone gets to travel far from home, whether it is due to work or other life commitments. Yanchep National Park

The Henry White Oval is located in the Yanchep National Park of Western Australia. This park is home to the Western Gray Kangaroos and has a rich birdlife and trees inhabited by koalas. Visitors can enjoy a communal area with picnic tables, grills, fire pits, and a playground for the children. It costs $15 per night, $3 for children, and $9 with a concession card. 

Although there is no running water available, and you’ll need to bring your own, the camping ground is a short distance from the park’s famed adventure climbing playgrounds, sanctuaries, and lagoon. The wetlands are an incredible spot to spend the day swimming and getting active.

Perth Hills Discovery Centre

Located about 40 minutes from the CBD, this top camping spot around Beelu National Park is ideal for overnight adventures with the kids over the weekend. Take a walk along this picturesque jarrah marri forest through the walking trails, or bring the bike and cycle through to the Discovery Centre. Keep an eye out for the many birds and wildlife near the camping grounds, including a kangaroo or two. Just south of the Bibbulum track, there are 12 tent sites available, with picnic tables, fire rings, and heaps of amenities. Lane Poole Reserve, Dwellingup

The Yarragil Campground at Lane Poole Reserve is the perfect getaway camp for anyone wanting to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, or those who simply want a change of scenery. 

One and a half hours away from Perth, deep in the Northern Jarrah Forest, visitors can spend quality time surrounded by wildlife, relaxing by the lake, or spending an active day swimming in the sun. Visitors worldwide come to visit this spot to enjoy the beaches and walk along the cliffs overlooking the Bay.

Jurien Bay Tourist Park provides all the amenities one would expect to find in an excellent camping ground, plus a lot more. There’s a barbecue area with grills for those who want to grill up some meat or fish and a couple of tables where you can sit down and enjoy your lunch while looking out at the water. There’s also a nice playground for the kids, laundry facilities, free Wi-Fi, powered sites, and clotheslines.

Lake Leschenaultia 

Just 56 minutes out of Perth, this tranquil, scenic spot is a must for families looking to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of city life. These sprawling wetlands are treasure troves of wildlife and an idyllic retreat to wander through and explore. Stroll past the boardwalks and look out onto lush green trees overlooking the crystal lake. Then step off the trail onto a pleasant grass campground and take in the stunning views and tranquillity.
